WALL SOUND INSULATION | FLOOR SOUND INSULATION | CEILING SOUND INSULATION

Sound insulation is a fundamental element of modern construction and renovation, especially in densely populated urban areas. The need for effective sound insulation is not limited to residences but extends to professional and industrial spaces, significantly contributing to the quality of life and performance of the space users. Below are presented the three main categories of sound insulation application, along with the corresponding certified solutions.

1. WALL SOUND INSULATION

Wall sound insulation is one of the most demanding and critical applications in the field of architectural acoustic design. Whether for residences, hotels, studios, professional spaces, or healthcare facilities, walls must meet strict acoustic requirements. The goal is to reduce sound transmission through the structure (structure-borne sound) and through the air (airborne sound).

Laboratory Certified Drywall Systems
Stop Sound Constructions offers laboratory-certified Drywall Systems, aiming for absolute acoustic shielding of every space. Our tested solutions include Sound Insulation Partition & Cladding systems for every type of application and acoustic requirement. These systems have been tested and proven in real-world, high-demand projects.

All our materials carry international certifications from independent laboratories and meet the strict LEED specifications, enhancing the energy and environmental superiority of each project. Unlike "anonymous" or low-quality materials circulating on the market without documentation or testing, Stop Sound systems guarantee laboratory-measured and predictable performance — a critical element for both designers and owners.

1.1 Viscolam® Sound Insulation Membranes
Stop Sound Constructions is the exclusive supplier of Viscolam® membranes — advanced polymer composite sound insulation membranes, specially designed for high-performance demands. Unlike conventional vinyl-type membranes which age, deform, and lose elasticity over time, Viscolam® maintains stable behavior, long service life, and excellent ease of application.

They are used either internally within composite drywall systems or glued onto existing walls (drywall systems). With a thin profile but high mass up to 10kg/m², they provide an ideal solution for renovations, interventions in spaces with high acoustic requirements, and projects where architectural discretion is essential.

2.5 Perimeter Decoupling and Avoidance of Sound Bridges

Floor sound insulation is only as good as the prevention of sound bridges between floating constructions and structural elements.

To ensure the avoidance of sound bridge phenomena, we recommend:

Perimeter decoupling strips along the entire floating floor length, such as Superfascia AD® or for more demanding applications ISOLMER®.
This ensures complete acoustic isolation of the floor, preventing any form of unwanted sound transmission.

3. CEILING SOUND INSULATION

Ceiling sound insulation is one of the most critical interventions in acoustic design, especially for protection against noise coming from upper apartments or mechanical equipment. It concerns both airborne sound insulation and protection from vibrations (structure-borne sound) and is necessary in residences, hotels, hospitals, offices, as well as commercial/entertainment facilities.

Stop Sound Constructions offers comprehensive, certified, and practically tested sound insulation protection solutions for ceilings, aiming to create comfortable and functional spaces.

3.1 Anti-Vibration Suspended Drywall Systems with Viscolam® Sound Insulation Membranes

The most widespread and effective solution for ceiling sound insulation is the construction of anti-vibration suspended gypsum board ceilings or other building materials, reinforced between the gypsum panels with Viscolam® sound insulation membranes. Stop Sound offers:

  • Certified systems with two gypsum panels and membranes of different mass in between, according to sound insulation requirements,
  • Special anti-vibration hangers with VISCOREN® or spring mechanisms,
  • Internal filling with ecological sound-absorbing panels.

The combination of these elements results in excellent performance for both airborne and impact noise.

3.2 Ceiling Vibration-Isolation Hangers

Conventional metal hangers contribute to the creation of sound bridges by transmitting vibrations from the upper concrete slab into the interior space. Stop Sound recommends the use of specialized vibration-isolation hangers:

  • High-Performance Spring Hangers capable of isolating up to 90% of vibrations,
  • Hangers with integrated VISCOREN® anti-vibration material,
  • VISCOREN® hangers designed for very low installation heights (clip-on type).

These solutions ensure true vibration isolation of the structure, preventing the transmission of vibrations.

  • High mass (3.1 / 6.5 / 10 kg/m²) with minimal thickness (2 / 4 / 6 mm),
  • Enhanced soundproofing performance at critical frequencies where drywall panels tend to underperform.

They are an ideal choice for projects requiring maximum performance with minimal thickness and without heavy constructions.

3.4 Ceiling Panel Systems

Stop Sound offers factory-preassembled ceiling panels with integrated soundproofing, which combine:

  • High aesthetics and architectural freedom,
  • Easy and quick installation,
  • Optimized performance across the full frequency spectrum.

The soundproof panel systems can be installed in both new constructions and renovations, without requiring extensive preparation.

3.5 Addressing Sound Bridges & Perimeter Isolation
